The story

Started from scratch, built to grow.

The workshop was founded by a watchmaker who learned the trade from George Daniels' "Watchmaking" and at the lathe, where a part is repeated until it matches the drawing. Daniels made almost every part of his watches himself, and that idea still shapes the work here. A part that is not right is made again. Everything that leaves is finished by hand and checked under the loupe.

The name comes from the city: Klausenburg is the old German name of Cluj-Napoca, in use since the fourteenth century.

the goal

The first watch movement developed and made entirely in Romania.

Romania has assembled watches before: the state factory on Chinese, East German and Soviet calibres, and lately new brands on Swiss ones. The movement, though, has always been bought in, never developed and made here. Every part we make and every watch we restore is a step toward changing that.

The workshop is set up in Cluj-Napoca: space, tooling and the bench, in place and running.
R&D on the workshop's first proprietary movement is underway.
